How Your Pee stream, Direction, and Sound Relate to Pelvic floor problems.

NOT EVEN JOKING- The way we pee can say a lot about the health of our pelvic floor muscles! Your urine stream sound, speed, and direction can all be warning signs of pelvic floor dysfunctions. I want you to read the blog and go ahead and assess your own pee properties after.

The sound of urine can provide insight into pelvic floor health. A splashing or gurgling sound can indicate that the pelvic floor muscles are not properly supporting the bladder, causing urine to pool in the urethra and cause the splashing sound.

If you hear your stream stopping and restarting, then there is a good chance that your pelvic floor muscles are high in tone and hard at relaxing!

In this case, you might need to push to empty your bladder- which causes further pelvic floor dysfunction such as urine leakage, muscle wasting, and organ prolapse.

The speed of the urine stream can also be an indicator of pelvic floor health. A slow stream can indicate that the muscles are not properly relaxing, causing the bladder to empty more slowly.

I would be worried about your ability to coordinate your pelvic floor muscles and suspect pelvic tension, pressure, and pain.

Moreover, the direction of the urine stream can provide important information about pelvic floor function as well. A stream that sprays in different directions or a misty appearance can indicate pelvic floor muscle weakness, causing urine to leak out in multiple directions instead of a steady stream!

Time to go check your urine stream now!
